Adhyamaan is how Ayurveda describes flatulence. A disturbed Agni (digestive power) is not able to process and digest all the food, this leads to fermentation of the food by the bacteria and formation of intestinal gas. This uncontrolled emission of gas is called flatulence which is primarily a Vata disorder. The air engulfed during eating or drinking can also cause flatulence. Some foods also contribute to flatulence. Some of the symptoms can be pain in abdomen, loss of appetite, nausea, lethargy, dullness and headaches.
